Finally! Managed to try out the "famous" Ah Basri Satay. Previously (as in up to around 1 or 2 months ago), they were operating from a wooden shop at Sg Ara (somewhere near Acreville Apartment) but they moved to D'Piazza mall in a proper shop.
I had the lamb satay set meal while my lunch partner had the chicken satay set meal
This is the chicken satay set meal which comes with rice (a choice of tomato/planta/nasi lemak rice), 3 sticks of satay,drink of the day(pictured above) and a bowl of clear soup.
The satay chicken was very flavorful, tender and with the right balance of chicken meat and chicken skin =) nice!
this is my lamb satay. Equally nice but of course the lamb is a bit more tough than the chicken but still good nevertheless. i had tomato rice with my satay. The sticks of satay looks small but actually it is quite enough to go with the rice. Just enough for lunch i guess :D
And we ordered an additional order of camel satay just to try it out
i think this is the first time i ever tried CAMEL! gosh! can you imagine that! i wonder where do they murder the camels. This was tough though. I would not order camel satay anytime soon :(
The satay sauce came in this small little sauce plate. The reddish sauce is something sweet which i still have not figured out what is it...but the the sweetish sauce goes well with the satay
The total bill amounted to RM17.60. A sum of money i would not normally pay for lunch. I usually pay only around 10 cents to RM1 cents for my lunch.hahahha! unbelievable? that's cos i normally eat in my office cafe and we have a daily subsidy of rm1.50 for lunch
but still, i would definitely go back there to eat the very tasty satay! :)

Where got people eat satay on nice plate with fork and spoon type? Eat satay literally means; 10 sticks of satay per person, ketupat, cucumber... lots of tissue paper and stains of satay sauce on table. AND paying 40 cents a stick!
But I think the establishment has really re-define eating satay; it should be call "Sa ki" Satay - three sticks nia with some rice for RM 6+++
On hindsight, you have provided me with a good evidence about how to sucker young diners (especially dating type).
Next time I will set up Ah James restaurant:
(1) Three small pieces of yong tau foo and a small ball of rice ball. RM8
(2) Two balls and a stick - two meatballs and a small stick of ngor hiang - RM10

chiak eh pah meh ? 3 stick onli. Ostrich meat is actually very delicious (tried it at a Japanese restaurant @ KL).

Honestly, RM1.80 or SGD0.70 is too much to pay even for one stick of mermaid satay man.
Ya James, it is indeed costly for their satay. The boss is making a high profit from satay suckers like us. Heard the actual boss behind Ah Basri is a chinese who always look into high margin.

Comments from friends the pricing is also "sky high" compare to satay kajang which almost similiar in taste after their visit to the restaurant. Further to that they threw away the mutton satay cos according to them taste weird.
Would not go again cos feeling overcharged.
