When we were still in Kuching, our Saturday morning ritual is to wake up and go to our usual Sarawak Laksa place to enjoy our bowl of hot steaming laksa. But since we moved to Penang, Sarawak Laksa is of course out of the question and Penang Laksa............. well let's just say it doesnt tickle our tastebuds (no offense intended :P)
Enter Penang curry mee...
These days, instead of savouring our bowl of sarawak laksa on saturday mornings, we have been "replacing" it with curry mee instead. It may look spicy but in actual fact it is not. Actually it tastes a bit like our sarawak laksa but only spicier and the gravy is thicker
A standard bowl of curry mee will come dried tofu,clams,octopus and coagulated pig blood. As you can see in the first pic, the spoon comes laden with this sambal like thingy (which i've yet to determine what it is..lol) and you are supposed to mix it all together to produce a reddish tinge in the gravy
Since our first bowl of curry mee, we have started to "customize" our curry mee to have cintan noodles (instant noodles) instead of the standard mix of bee hoon and noodles...lol

I don't think I have ever had Penang curry mee. But still nothing beat a good bowl old laksa! We have a real Kuching chef here that make laksa from scratch, and it is good. We get to eat that at least once a year. ^_^ Everytime go back Kuching we just eat kolok mee and laksa kao kao.
lol...how ironic...you are in US and yet you still get to eat laksa at least once a year and im in penang and there is nowhere selling sarawak laksa :(
hi pink Cotton, are u in Penang? if u want eat Sarawak Laksa, u may go to JLN Tengah,Bayan Baru, in front Giant there, my bf has selling Sarawak Laksa but only on Sunday, if u want to try, can come on Sunday.. Jz to inform u only..we also selling Kampua mee..

Sim Coffee shop, hehehee.. u knw the Mee Jawa very famous one? our stall is somewhere around there.... Only Sunday got Laksa oo..
