Iphone 3gs review

Finally got my Iphone 3GS 16gb after 40 days of waiting. Got my 3GS from Maxis with a 1 year contract at RM2099....and the process between my pre-booking and the day i got my phone is another story...we will leave that for another day and all i can tell u is that...it wasnt a pleasant experience =_="

Anyway...can u imagine my excitement to finally hold my baby in my hands after soooo many days of waiting???



This being my first Apple product...i must say i m quite intrigued with how they package their iphones....such a small cute box...the box is only slightly bigger than the phone itself



ahhhh...my sleek smooth surface baby :)



and the wallpaper you so often see on maxis iphone ads :D



let's see what we have in the package...a 3 pin plug, a USB cable and an earphone (all in white! lovin it! ok i know its not pink but white is the nxt best thing after pink for a gadget)



when the maxis staff explained to me the 3 pin plug...i was like how do i charge it??? cos there's no cable attached to it....

then she explained to me that i could actually plug in the usb cable to the 3 pin plug and we have a charger!



isnt it nifty??? :) And if you have your phone plugged in to your pc with the same usb cable, it would also charge the phone! now i don have to bring my charger AND my usb cable...it's 2-in-1!

also in the package...the usual phone manual you get with every phones...



the only difference being.....you only get a manual of less than 20 pages



it is either Apple is trying to conserve the environment by using less paper or they are so confident in their product being intuitive enough to not need a manual..lol

but i would somewhat agree with the latter...it IS intuitive! with only one physical button (not incl the volume control button,power button and the silent switch) on the phone...it is really quite a no-brainer using the iphone



it comes preloaded with all the normal stuffs...calendar, clock, calculator, compass, stock...

since this is the 3gs...with the 'S' for Speed...i must say browsing is fast and seamless and smooth!



type in the web address with the on-screen qwerty keys (this needs some getting used to type efficiently...i can now type with 2 fingers :P)

another thing i love about browsing with the iphone is the 'pinching' motion u use to zoom in and zoom out when you are browsing



cool and intuitive! as you can see i've mentioned intuitive that many times in this post :D

another new thing with the 3gs is the 3.2mp auto-focus camera. it also comes with a touch-to-focus feature



quality of photos are useable but not perfect...still not too bad...here's a photo taken with the 3gs

and the other thing new about 3gs is the video feature...i know this is nothing new with other much cheaper options out there but since this is a new feature apple put in, i think it deserves some mentioning dont u think so? lol

slide the little slider to use the video function...



with 30 frames per second, i must say the video quality is quite commendable and you get this useful feature where you can directly edit and trim your videos



the other thing i love about iphone is the App Store!



i honestly feel that this is the thing that really puts apple iphone on top of the game compared with all the other better phones out there

here, you get to download all sorts of apps from games, productivity tools, networking tools, and the list goes on and on....



but of course, not all apps are free unless of course *cough* you *cough* jailbreak your phone *cough* =)

i really enjoy lying in the comfort of my bed and downloading those free apps :)

among my favourite apps are this very useful facebook app for iphone



i could almost do anything i can do when i m fb-ing on my pc here...upload photos, send mails, chat, tag photos....

and my other fav app is the BlogPress from google blogger where i can directly write and post photos up to my blog!



the only downside of the phone is of course the battery life...on average, i need a charge every 1.5 days...but of course whenever you plug in the phoen to your pc to sync and copy photos it is already charging

i am intentionally delaying my review of the phone until after 2 weeks++ of usage so that i can give a honest, unbiased review that is not affected by my "new toy syndrome" lol

but so far ... i m really ♥-ing my iphone! =)

JCo Donuts in Penang!

Since my blog is going into semi-retirement, i might as well post some donut pictures from J.Co.

Unlike the opening of Big Apple donuts in Kuching last year (was it?) there were no long queues in front of J.Co. In fact, when i excitedly told my colleagues J.CO IS COMING!!! and they were like huh?what is j.co? ohh the donuts ah? nice ka?

anyway, we went and got ourselves 1/2 dozen donuts in true kiasu kuchingite spirit :P (at rm12.50, cheaper than big apple rite??)

there is of course, my must have da vin cheese which is unlike big apple's cheese donut which is sweet in nature...this is savoury...yums

and the pinky-looking donut which i think is better than big apple's pink panther cos it is less sweet with more authentic strawberry taste

and dono what-sis-name donut with the peach colored center thingy...

gheez...i cant even blog properly anymore!

MyPrivilegeBook 2009

Remember my little post on MyPrivilegeBook ? It was written in a bid to win the MyPrivilegeBook 2009 in a competition organized by kuchingbloggers.com and Ivoq Concept and guess who got the consolation prize?? :)

I was sooooo happy and pleasantly surprised cos i think my post was rather shabby compared to the others...but who cares...now i have my very own copy of MyPrivilegeBook 2009!!

Went to collect it last Friday at The Spring...they gave me...

Cool!...i love desserts ice cream...

And a pillow...

Now i have 3 of these pillows (one from MyPrivilegeBook 2008 giveaway, one i won from this competition and another one which i won from the lucky draw when i went to collect MPB 2009)

And of cos ... there's the MPB 2009!!!

More restaurants are participating and more of them are giving discounts if you present your MPB Card...i think this is better than tearing out the coupons whenever you need to go dine at participating outlets...more convenient!

And i m gonna use the coupons in the book to do my hair b4 cny 2009! woot!

My Little Book of Savings!

Some of you who have been following my blog since last year might have read about my post where i talked about how i've won the MyPrivilegeBook 2008 from my post about Desserts.

I have been contemplating on purchasing the 2008 My Privilege book since its launch on the 1st of January 2008 but my procrastination got the better of me until i actually won a free copy! I was so excited when i first received it and i spent the whole afternoon flipping through the book to find out where i can go to get special discounts.

I was so impressed to see that MyPrivilegeBook has managed to compile discount coupons and even coupons for free stuff from so many different merchants and they are popular ones too! Like Desserts, the Star Cineplex, JF Beauty, Anna Cake Training Center and many more! These are among my favourite merchants! :)

My most precious MyPrivilegeBook coupon would have to be the Buy 1 free 1 coupons from Desserts! I really love those coupons so much! And i now have one more Buy 1 free 1 TRIPLE SCOOP ice cream which i am going to enjoy before the year ends.

Because of this, i am really interested in getting another copy of MyPrivilegeBook 2009...i think it is really worth its retail price for all the discounts and savings you can get in one little book!

If i am given another free book for the year...i think i would be so happy i would be grinning from ear to ear and wagging my tail off

Sorry ... i have to sacrifice my dog again...simply bcos i m an anonymous blogger...hahaha!

I got my PR back!!!!

Still remember the post i wrote on how to get your Google Page Ranking back???

Just 2 days ago, i checked my blog's PR here and it's still a big zero...so i thought Google wasnt gonna give it back to me cos i heard they won't tell you or anything if they do not think you deserve your PR back even tho u have requested for reconsideration...

but just now....i checked my PR again on a whim and look!!!!!!!!

oh my gosh!!!!

i was so happy.... i was jumping for joy! :D

now i really love Google...

i m very sorry, Google...i wont break the rules again...promise! 'x'

How to get your PageRank back

A while back when i started to write PayPerPosts paid posts, i didn't realise that Google was hunting down all those bloggers who write posts for PayPerPosts and slap them with a Page Rank ZERO! It was only my 3rd post that i realized Google had given me the big ZERO.

If you are new to PageRank go here and check the PageRank for your blog. To me, i feel that PageRank is only important when you are writing paid posts. So if you want to earn some money from your blog, it is best you only write paid posts with "nofollow" links. The unfortunate thing is, PayPerPost's paid links do not come with "no follow", hence the penalty.

So i started to search around the net to see whether there's any way for me to get back my PR and i found a few helpful sites. This one, this one and this one. Basically, you have to remove all those contents in your blog which you think might be the cause of the penalty (for me, it is removign all those paid links with NO "nofollow") and request for a reconsideration here at Google Webmaster Tools.

I just submitted my request and i sure hope they give me back my PR! Good luck!

p/s this is certainly not a paid post altho i have to admit i sound more serious in this post than i ever were writing a non paid post :D
