House Progress Report Ep10 (S02)

This post i am going to talk about my kitchen and painting the whole house (well almost the whole house, with the exception of some walls and the 2 medium rooms which we VOWED to paint SOON. it has been almost a year since we moved in and well................ lets just say the 2 rooms are still unpainted!)

Cleaning up the kitchen counter was FUNNNNNNNNN...until someone pointed out i was splashing water into the power socket :(

All cleaned!!! (kitchen cabinet still not installed yet at this point)

Look...our stainless steel railing that i stubbornly insist on buying from Ikea. And it has proven to be sooooooooo useful until now. I use it to hang pots, slicer, colanders, etc. I know i keep mentioning that i STUBBORNLY or ADAMANTLY insist on buying some thing. But see how useful my stubbornness turned out to be??? see??? men.....tsk tsk

Oh this plate dryer thingy....which is also useful! using it till now and still not a single sign of rust

Aha! here c omes the pain in the arse job...painting! Spent days looking at the paint catalogue

but before painting, there's the cleaning up of the house to do. The AMOUNT of dust and debris collected from the renovation of 2 bathrooms and one kitchen...aitelyuuuuuuuuuuu...

I remember it was a long weekend, so we stubbornly decided to move out of the good samaritan's house who-must-not-be-named and thank him graciously for having put up with us for the past month and said we MUST move back to our own house since renovation is now complete. And we started painting that weekend...

Sponge brush...gone are the days when you use paintbrush to paint houses. I was a little skeptical about these sponge thingy but boy were they useful. Not only do you not have to worry about stray bristles sticking to the wall, or leaving bristle marks on the walls or dripping paint but we used a lot less paint too

and and...they were much easier to clean than paint brushes

prepping the kitchen for painting. I painted the wall while someone did the ceiling and couldnt look down for the next 2 days

It's time for our first night in our new house. Said hello to my comforter that has been shrink-wrapped for more than a month

First night spent sleeping on roll-out mattresses on the floor. I had to admit i got a little "home sick" at this point :( I was scolding myself...dont be stupid! thats not even your house..THIS is your home!

So we both had to suck it up and sleep with the heavy smell of paint and still a layer of dust covering the floors

Next day...ran out of old newspapers and someone bought that day's newspaper to line the floors! I was nagging at him...that's so wasteful! So I was reading the papers off the floor while painting...lol

Lunch on 2nd day...cup noodles! lol

Gosh...the painting seemed like it would never end at this point of time! My arms ached, my legs ached, my neck ached...ARGHHH!!!

And to top it all off, we still had to sleep on the floor! There's my iPad lulling me to sleep...lol

Third day! I painted the master bedroom...chose this taupe color that is lighter than the living area feature wall

House Progress Epi 9 (S02)

Oh my gosh...my last post on my house progress was on the 18th of October 2011 O_O more than a year ago! Oh well, reading back my house progress posts...i find it really interesting to keep a journal of our house renovation progress, so i might as well get it all done and out of the way before i continue on with wedding-related post...*just slightly over a month away* GASP!

ok continuing from where i left you guys (a year ago :x), look! water heater is up! lol...we reused the water heater from the previous owner since its still pretty new and working what. cant afford to be all bitchy about having everything brand new anymore, plenty of things to spend on still

 

 

toilet roll holder...lol

 

my soft close toilet! this toilet costs RM600 if my memory serves me correctly...extra money for the SOFT CLOSE seat. i was adamant in geting one with soft close for the master bedroom bathroom because...i said the seat wont come banging down and splash remnants of urine onto my legs...EWWWWWW...

but after a year, i realized...soft close is troublesome 'x' i have to wait for it to slowly come down...not ideal especially when you have an emergency...of the toilet kind

completed common bathroom...this was designed by someone and i kept complaining how rough the tiles he chose were. but after i fell down 2 weeks ago in the master bedroom toilet and knocked my head and bruised my bum....well...i............

i know i'm such a disgusting person right? where got bride-to-be like that oneeeeeeeeeeeee you say? but actually we went to the house to inspect the renovation and i had a stomach ache and had to ask someone to rush down to the condo convenience store to buy me toilet paper...HAHA!

Life Saver

With only just 64 days till the big day (the countdown app is doing the work of counting. I'm not that obsessed. Lol) some of you would have known I Have been battling redness of the face and sensitivity with rashes-like bumps appearing on my face during certain weeks (have not found out the trigger yet) I can tell you it's frustrating and not to mention a self esteem buster :(

My face not only turns red but it starts to flake and peel too. Not even makeup can cover it. That's what happened during my pre wedding photoshoot. Thank God for Photoshop :x after searching lo and high and spending tonnes and I mean TONNES of money finding the Ultimate skincare that would help. It has been to no avail.....until NOW!

I was just being casually given some sensitive skincare sample by my good old beautician back in kuching few weeks ago when I went back there to do eyebrow embroidery. I was thinking what the hell. I have nothing to lose. Truth be told I didn't have much hope on it being a miracle worker anyway.

Day 1, nothing happened...day 2, meh..nothing noticeable, come day 3...I was washing my face when I noticed how smooth my face has become :O I dare not attribute it to the sample yet so I kept quiet and kept my fingers crossed. By day 4, people started noticing differences. Omg!!! The shit actually worked!

The brand is called azioma. Never heard of it before and if I had not experienced the potentness first hand I would Have never bought it. This sounds too advertisement like but this is real first hand account ok. I don't even get paid to write this :( I so love the brand I feel like marrying them instead

The Elusive Pair of Shoes

So photo shooting is less than 2 weeks away, and I still have not found my pair of white shoes. It's not that I'm doing (another) last minute job. Ive been keeping an eye out for "that" pair of shoe for a few months now but to no avail. My requirement is very "simple" : must not be too plain, heels mustn't be too short, not too high, comfy, elegant and if it's going to be white, it must be a "nice" shade of white. Hmmm listing it out, it didn't sound so simple after all. Wahahaha!

Anyway, I told someone I NEED to find that pair of shoe this weekend! So off we went shopping...

Its funny how not many shops sells white shoes. Very hard meh? People getting married everyday and even if not for bridal wear, normal people don't buy white shoes one ah? Food for thought...should consider starting up a line of bridal shoes...anyhoo! Back to my topic....

So first shop I went in, my fav affordable shoe shop ... Vincci. Though deep down I somehow doubted they would have nice white shoes meeting my requirements. Lol. But I found this...


Not too ugly, not too plain, and comfy to wear. Only rm79.90 before 20% discount. But it was off-white, slightly creamish. I thought I'd come back and buy this if I 4
Ran out of choice.

Walked in to a few more shops to no avail and finally!!! Parkson came to the rescue! Should have thought if Parkson gurney earlier!

Quite a few pair of white shoes there. I found this, which is like around rm100


heels too short :P




Another one...rm110++ I think. But too off-white...




Then I saw the ultimate holy grail of white shoes...




Soooo pretty! Though not this one which I managed to take a photo off. This my friends, was priced at rm558! Someone got so worried, asked me to put back the shoes quickly. Lol

And then! And then ... I saw this!



I knew I had to make it mine!
And mine it did become :))))


Nice or not???


Affordable and meets most of my criteria. Now I can do kissing poses without having to tiptoe. Kekekeke

Trip to Ipoh

Hellooo...what with the wedding and all that coming up. I can't deny it, it's all about $$$$...and needless to say any holiday out of the country is totally OUT OF THE QUESTION until the wedding end of this year :( But me being me, i just cannot stay quietly in one place. The only option? Cuti cuti malaysia lor! Last weekend was a long weekend, on Friday itself I asked the bf whether he wants to do a road trip that weekend. He asked me where? I thought long and hard (no, not really) and decided IPOH!

On Friday night itself, we made our hotel reservations! This I can say is our most spontaneous trip after so many years. Pathetic isnt it :( On Saturday morning, we started our journey at 10:30am from Penang and arrived at 12:30pm. Yes, we need our sleep :P

Room was reasonably priced (RM148 NETT), comfortably sized, location was good....only gripe, we had to share our car park with the throngs of crowd going to the pasar pagi on Sunday morning =_= and not forgetting being woken up at 6am by the pasar pagi crowd :(

Anyway, the minute we finished exploring the hotel room....we set out for lunch! Where else but to try the famous Ipoh white coffee @ Nam Heong Coffee Shop

Twice we've been here and twice the coffee shop was pretty full during lunch time. But we were lucky enough to get a seat after a few minutes of searching. There are a few stalls there....the famous one being the egg tart / dim sum stall...I ordered the dried curry mee and of course white coffee (RM1.80 only!) while someone had the PENANG char koay teow! Yes! Driving down from Penang to Ipoh eating PENANG ckt...i was nagging at him while stealing a bite of his ckt and....boy! was it good! LOL (forgot to take a photo)

Went back to the hotel for an afternoon nap and off to the church for Sunset mass at 7pm. Was a bit reluctant to spend my holiday going to church :x but I did not regret it cos look! pretty church!

And there was a "super moon" phenomenon that night...

After mass, we went for the famous nga coi kai @ Lou Wong (beansprout chicken koay teow)

The place was packed as was our first time there 3 years ago but still we were lucky enough to find an empty table! whee! As you can see, juicy, scrumptious chicken...big juicy beansprouts, smooth koay teow! yums!

Next morning, i was adamant in waking up early for dim sum (which proved to not be difficult since i was woken up by the pasar pagi anyway =_=)

9am and we are already out to....

Foh San Dim Sum restaurant which really looks more like a palace than anything else. Can you imagine? One big place like that just selling dim sum?? in the mornings! and it was packed full! If finding an empty table in all the other famous Ipoh eateries were difficult, finding an empty table here is SUPER difficult.

Then again, i guess the "Lady Luck of stuffing yourself silly" with food was with me during the whole trip cos I once again spotted an empty table within few mins *proud* Though that didnt come without a slight tussle with an auntie who wanted to hijack my table while i was waiting for the bf to walk over. WTF!

As you can see in the photo above, everyone was waiting like vultures by the side of your table....counting the minutes while you are enjoying your dim sum. Ordering your dim sum from the counter is also not an easy feat! sighs...

Dim sum was mediocre though of a higher quality compared to the dim sum cafes here in Penang but also comes with a big price tag! Would I go back there again? Once in a blue moon ok lah! Just to fight with all the aunties for breakfast dim sum *sniggers*

After that, we got so tired of all the pasar pagi crowds and decided to drive back to Penang after buying all the famous Ipoh titbits. One of them is this famous kaya kok (kaya puff) from Sin Eng Heong

We were there early and managed to buy lots of these precious pastry back to Penang. At 80cents a piece, it is definitely worth every single cent! Yums! I would go back to Ipoh just for these! 

And with that, that concludes our short Ipoh food trip! :) Which definitely came at a bad time what with my pre-wedding photoshoot coming up in slightly more than a months time...nooooo!!!! Coming up Next....Cameron Highlands food trip!
