Ah Basri Satay (D'Piazza Mall)

Finally! Managed to try out the "famous" Ah Basri Satay. Previously (as in up to around 1 or 2 months ago), they were operating from a wooden shop at Sg Ara (somewhere near Acreville Apartment) but they moved to D'Piazza mall in a proper shop.

OPI Drip Dry (my first purchase from ebay!) [Girly Review]

I always cannot sit still and do nothing after i finish painting my nails. While i'm waiting for my nails to dry, suddenly my forehead will itch or my fringe will poke into my eye...and i will be scratching or touching this and that and in the end i will end up with smudges and nicks on my nail polish :((( not cool

So i started looking around for some solution and found the OPI Drip Dry. I asked the local OPI spree-ers from lowyat.net and she quoted me RM36 for the 0.3oz bottle (not including local postage!). And that's where eBay comes in!

Baked Whole Chicken Leg

I try to make it a point to cook a "special dish" on Sundays. "Special" as in something that will take me longer than 45 minutes to prepare...lol. So i got the idea to bake one whole chicken leg for each of us last Sunday and this is how it turned out to be

Sarawak Laksa in Penang!

Yeah! you heard me right! I had sarawak laksa for breakfast today...in Penang! :D I bet most of you Kuchingites who stay in Penang would be dying to know where right? Lol. When i uploaded the photo to my facebook this morning, almost immediately few of my Kuchingite friends asked me where is the stall. I guess we Kuchingites really love our sarawak laksa.

The stall is at the Sim Food Court (Medan Selera Sim) which is within the Kampung Gedung Apartment.

Durian from Jalan Tengah

It is now the durian season again in Penang! :) Where else to buy superb durians other than from Balik Pulau right? But then this year, we are just too lazy to drive all the way to Balik Pulau to eat durians :P

Because now, we can buy balik pulau durian from Jalan Tengah itself!

The durians are supposedly from Poh Beng Estate of Balik Pulau. We have bought durians twice from the uncle and they seem ok both times. And the uncle will even "replace" your durian for you if there are any bad durians when he opens it. lol

oops it is almost August, i believe the durian season is ending soon! must go grab some durians!

Etude House Hand Bouquet Hand Mask [Girly Review]

Ok, i'm going to push this review way up front because i can't wait to share this with you all! lol. it was a lazy friday afternoon in the office and i was applying hand lotion on my hands absent-mindedly when i started to feel conscious about the fine line on my hands :( Then a thought entered my head, are there any hand masks around? So i started searching the internet and lo and behold, the hand mask exists!!! lol

Lunch @ Weld Quay Food Court

Accompanied a colleague to get her passport from the Penang immigration department few days ago during lunch so we decided to have lunch at the nearby Weld Quay (Pengkalan Weld) food court. I was recommended the famous Penang beef kueh tiaw (yes the name of the stall is really the famous penang beef kt! lol)

When we were still in Kuching, our Saturday morning ritual is to wake up and go to our usual Sarawak Laksa place to enjoy our bowl of hot steaming laksa. But since we moved to Penang, Sarawak Laksa is of course out of the question and Penang Laksa............. well let's just say it doesnt tickle our tastebuds (no offense intended :P)

Tragedy strikes

Yesterday (Friday) was a busy day for me in the office, I don't know why there were so many issues around all the various key departments that got me running all around. Shipping has problem shipping out an urgent shipment,warehouse has problems updating their raw material for production lines,program change...needless to say, by 5pm I was tired out. Since it was Friday,I was happily looking forward to the weekends as I drove home.

As I drove along the usual stretch of highway, I don't know why yesterday of all days, I decided to use the "side lane". It's very common for all the Penang drivers to use this small stretch of area which is not really a lane. I never used it but I DID ytd! :(

Apart from the coastalscents haul,i recently purchased some items from cherryculture too! They were having a storewide summer sale of 20% off! So there goes my paypal money but i just feel so glad that i'm able to buy these cosmetics with money earned thru my blog! Somehow, money earned this way feels like "free money" lol

Would you believe i bought a new camera just for this blog??? Lol...yeah i knew you wouldnt believe me...but i just did! meet my new Nikon Coolpix S570 compact camera in PINK!!! Did you hear that??? i finally bought a pink gadget!

Recently, i ordered some brushes from CoastalScents. This is not my first purchase from coastalscents per se but it is my first time ordering directly from the website. Cos previously ive been ordering from spreers in lowyat.net :) 

High Tea Buffet at Eastin Penang

The bf's birthday fell on the exact same day as father's day this year, so i decided to treat him (and myself) to a high-tea buffet. But then, the only buffet available is for father's day....so yeah, i brought my BF to a FATHER's day buffet. anyway it was RM60++ per pax

i didnt think there were too many selections of food at first glance and i still stand by that today...the thing that caught my attention first was the desserts bar...

Jenxdan Lifestyle Cafe

Went to Jenxdan Lifestyle Cafe with my department last week. It was a pretty eventful lunch cos it was a birthday celebration cum farewell lunch for 2 of my now ex-colleagues. LOL!

Anyhoo, Jenxdan is actually a "meatless" cafe. All the meat-like things you see in the following pictures are actually.............not meat.

I had the shitake pasta. I expected a creamy sauced pasta with shitake mushrooms all over but instead i got this...

Where has the shitake gone to??? I can only assume that the shitake went into the meat-like meatballs thingy.It's fettucini tossed in what tasted like sesame oil (and no garlic cos vegatarians can't eat garlic).

Someone ordered these vegetarian sushi

It's actually rice vermicelli in it instead of sushi rice and it came with some soy sauce and wasabi. How did it taste like?? Sad to say, i didnt get a chance to eat it! What the hell?? By the time i finished taking photos, there were only a few left and there were still so many people who were so eager to try it. Oh well, when it comes to food i'm always very giving *ahem*

This is organic and vegetarian pumpkin soup...

Something tasted pretty different here. I believe they did not use cream, because it lack the richness.

verdict? i thought it tasted weird! Lavender is supposed to be in my shower gel and not in my cheesecake. oh well...

after the lunch, i asked my non-vegetarian colleagues whether they will go back to that place and they were all silent...so.................................................. lol. but it was pretty interesting tho, when i heard of vegetarian western cafe i was looking forward to order the vegetarian burger cos i once had a very delicious vegetarian burger. but alas, there was not a single burger in the menu.

NYX Round Lipstick Swatches

Ok,here's another girly post on makeup from me. I m beginning to feel that my blog is becoming very very mixed up with foodie posts,techie post and girly posts all together. But since these are my interests anyway, i feel that it is only right i post these in my blog rite? :) Well, guys out there pls bear with me when i post girly posts like this. Lol. its just that i've relied a lot on beauty bloggers out there for their swatches and reviews when i'm deciding on which NYX lipsticks or eyeshadows to buy, so i feel it is only right if i contribute back to the society.lol!

I bought most of these lipsticks from cherryculture.com. They cost USD1.75 each (excluding postage from US to Malaysia). So with postage and conversion they actually costs between RM13-RM14 per piece. Which is pretty cheap considering the quality.

But you could actually buy from some spree-ers in forums such as lowyat.net for a much lesser price since you could share postage with the other spreers. But then, receiving my parcel from US gives me so much satisfaction that sometimes i just went ahead and ordered directly from the website ..muahaha :D

I used to love Sierra very much because its a perfect nude color for the days when you dont want to appear too made up. But since i got Fig, this is my go-to lipstick most of the days :) It just suits my skintone and gives my lips a hint of pink.

But on the whole, these lipsticks provide very good color payback, and are not drying. If only the local drugstores here carries quality and cheap lipsticks like these T_T

Chicago Rib House @ Gurney Plaza

Went to Chicago Rib House @ Gurney Walk (the open air area next to Gurney Plaza) on a whim few weeks ago. And it was the best whim ever! lol...i told someone about this new rib place that just opened after reading this post and so we decided to try it out!

let's see here, we wanted to order the beef ribs (RM45.90) but they were out of beef ribs the other day =_= so we ordered the pork ribs instead. You could actually choose 2 side dishes with the order of the main ribs which includes beef ribs/pork ribs itself! so meaning if you wanna try both types of ribs, you could order one as the mains and have the other type as the side.

we ordered baked potato in jacket and broccoli as our sides cos we were sharing and i was on a no-carbo diet the other day T_T



the ribs were marinaded perfectly with a tinge of sweetness in every bite and the most wonderful thing is, the meat just falls off from the bones upon a poke of the fork!!! SUPERB!!! typing about it now makes me salivate!

OPI Iphone App

Ola! I is back...

actually i got a few girly posts and some food posts to blog about but it seems that laziness has got the better of me these days...sigh...sims3,facebook and twitter is taking up much of my time. anyway, i just downloaded this cool app on my iphone and i think it deserves some mentioning in my humble blog

may i present to you the OPI app...



you know how many shades OPI nail polishes comes in right?? hundreds upon thousands...well, i could be exaggerating but let's just say there are just too many shades to choose from if you wanna choose just one shade or two...

this app allows you to choose an OPI shade and see how it looks like on the hands on the screen. you can even adjust the skin tone of the hand accordingly so that you can guesstimate how it would like on your own hand.



pretty cool tho it might not truly reflect the texture of the shades. but still, a nifty app :)
