My First Bun Making Attempt

i got my internet connection back! yay!...it has been so long since my last proper post that my blog's ranking is dropping right into the drain! :(

i shud bring it back up again...

anyhoo...i baked some bun yesterday...

there are lotus filling buns and sausage buns

purposely made buns to finish up the leftover lotus filling from the previous mooncake makign session, the sausage buns were just a by product...lol

but at the end the sausage buns were my favourite!

and there's this didnt-quite-make-the-cut bun here...

can u see the smiley face? drew in some eyes and a litle bit of hair to help u with that...

i got the recipe for this Sweet Bread Dough from the agnes chang cook book. to be honest, i copied the recipe from MPH yesterday morning...wuahahaah...but i m going to buy the book soon! i am i am! 'x'

and just for those whos interested ... don say i never share recipe oooo....

Recipe for Basic Sweet Bun Dough

A
400g high protein flour,sifted (bread flour)
100g low protein flour,sifted (i used plain flour)
10g milk powder (make sure its melanine free 'x')
1 tsp salt
1tbsp instant yeast
100g castor sugar
1 egg
220ml water

B.
75g butter/margerine

METHOD:
1. Put all ingredients A into a bowl and mix into a smooth dough
2. Add B and continue to knead until gluten has formed and it can be stretched into a very thin layer
3.Cover with a piece of damp cloth and leave to rise until it doubles in bulk
4.Punch down and knead again until smooth
5.Divide into desired portions and shape into balls
6.Cover with a damp cloth and rest for 10-15mins before forming into different shapes (and this is where you add in the filling)
7. Bake at around 120C until golden brown (you estimate yourself lah)

It is fairly easy to make...if i can make it you can too...LOL

Not again!

Here i am...internet-less again!!!!

There was this freak storm on Saturday evening and all the phone lines in my home went dead...absolutely no dial tone. Which most certainly means no internet connection for me ... AGAIN!!!

oh well...i went to the company in house clinic this morning cos i hv been having this irritating sore throat since yesterday so i told the doctor im having sore throat...and he asked me whether im having a fever...

i went errrrrrrr and i instinctively put my hand to my forehead to feel whether i have fever or not...but still i cannot tell whether i have a fever or not

bcos the the thing is..i could never tell whether im having fever or not unless its a really serious fever...hehe this is the 2nd time i did this in a clinic...arghhh so stupid... 'x'

KFC's Spicy Crunch

Tried out the new KFC Spicy Crunch meal last week...

If you are not a big fan of Rose Syrup (which is the drink offered in the spicy crunch 'special meal'), do not order the spicy crunch meal...which is more expensive than your normal snack plate...

It seems that spicy crunch is replacing hot and spicy till I-dont-know-when...so you could order your normal snack plate but ask for spicy crunch

Personally i rather like it...it has more flavor than hot & spicy and i think the curry leaves (??) added into the batter adds more oomph to the KFC chicken :D

My Miniature Elementary School Set

i really love this set cos it is soooooo detailed!

u can see the tiny wording on the mag...but i dont know how to read japanese lah 'x'

it actually comes with a mini pencil and some coins for the piggy bank...

and look what i discovered while taking pics of the pencil...

the pencil even comes complete with the labelling on the side! if not for the macro mode of my camera, i would not have known ...

and even the super tiny pencil lead!

Mid Autumn Festival

The mid autumn festival has come and gone and mooncakes are still aplenty in my house...LOL

this year, i made 2 types of mooncake...the jelly mooncake with leng yong (lotus) paste...

and the snow skin mooncake...

heh...so proud of myself...gimme a pat on my back will ya 'x'

i personally did not like the jelly mooncake cos it tasted weird with jelly and lotus paste =x
i threw them away but before i threw them away someone curi makan and said it was good...surprise surprise...hahaha

anyway happy belated mooncake festival...i guess it will be moon cake festival in my house until all the 3 boxes of mooncake is finished :P

The Cheapo Thingamajig

arghh...my home pc has failed on me after several weeks of erratic behaviour...i knew it was coming but yet i was unprepared ...heh

thank goodness for my office laptop or i would have to let go of the $6.50 post down there...heh heh...

this is gonna be a long overdue and short post cos i have been typing sitting on the floor for the past half an hour and my neck is killing me...

bought a cheapo toy...

i dont know what you call these...its battery operated and you have to move the little metal pen thingy from the beginning of the maze till the end without touching the metal sides. if you touched it, it will buzzz and you lose!

hehe...cheap entertainment! but i have not played it yet...perhaps now is a good time since i dont have my pc to entertain me!!! sobs!!!
