After "negotiating" with someone over the issue of whether I should blog about this, he has finally relented. Yes! It's official! I am (finally) getting hitched!
Since I have blogged about major life events in this humble blog, i think it is only right that i do not exclude this very special event :) Currently we are very busy negotiating and sourcing for vendors and not forgetting BUDGETTING for the wedding.
Maybe i will blog a little about the preparations...can't wait! Till i have more time to blog, adieu!

High Tea Buffet at Eastin Penang
The bf's birthday fell on the exact same day as father's day this year, so i decided to treat him (and myself) to a high-tea buffet. But then, the only buffet available is for father's day....so yeah, i brought my BF to a FATHER's day buffet. anyway it was RM60++ per pax
i didnt think there were too many selections of food at first glance and i still stand by that today...the thing that caught my attention first was the desserts bar...

Jenxdan Lifestyle Cafe
Went to Jenxdan Lifestyle Cafe with my department last week. It was a pretty eventful lunch cos it was a birthday celebration cum farewell lunch for 2 of my now ex-colleagues. LOL!
Anyhoo, Jenxdan is actually a "meatless" cafe. All the meat-like things you see in the following pictures are actually.............not meat.
I had the shitake pasta. I expected a creamy sauced pasta with shitake mushrooms all over but instead i got this...
Where has the shitake gone to??? I can only assume that the shitake went into the meat-like meatballs thingy. It's fettucini tossed in what tasted like sesame oil (and no garlic cos vegatarians can't eat garlic).
Someone ordered these vegetarian sushi
It's actually rice vermicelli in it instead of sushi rice and it came with some soy sauce and wasabi. How did it taste like?? Sad to say, i didnt get a chance to eat it! What the hell?? By the time i finished taking photos, there were only a few left and there were still so many people who were so eager to try it. Oh well, when it comes to food i'm always very giving *ahem*
Actually this is the appetizer, but i'm too lazy to move this photo up. hah!
This is organic and vegetarian pumpkin soup...
Something tasted pretty different here. I believe they did not use cream, because it lack the richness.
This is the spinach pasta...
Not mine, no comments...
Spaghetti Bolognese...
And vietnamese spring rolls...
Fml! I believe i did not get to try this either!
And lastly, lavendar cheese cake
verdict? i thought it tasted weird! Lavender is supposed to be in my shower gel and not in my cheesecake. oh well...
after the lunch, i asked my non-vegetarian colleagues whether they will go back to that place and they were all silent...so.................................................. lol. but it was pretty interesting tho, when i heard of vegetarian western cafe i was looking forward to order the vegetarian burger cos i once had a very delicious vegetarian burger. but alas, there was not a single burger in the menu.

Our not-very-chinese 15 Meh Dinner
When it comes to occasions like chap goh meh, it doesnt feel very festive when you are away from home. So just "yi su,yi su" and have a dinner that is a little more special that we normally have la :D Went to Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant. It was supposed to be some sort of a belated valentine's day dinner since this year's valentine's day coincided with day 1 of cny...rugi la this year!
But both of us really like daorae, this is my 4th time there since its opening in may/june last year. good food and good service...have not disappoint us thus far :)

really love this spicy soup...appetizing
and of course, with every korean restaurants...so many side dishes are being served. and the best thing? you can ask for a free refill anytime!

i really dont know what's so nice about kimchi. we never touch the kimchi. i know some people really really like kimchi up to a point where they even bought back some to savor at home =_="
it tastes like spicy, wilted cabbage to me...wahahaha
each table will have this special duct like thingy that is supposed to suck out any smoke from the bbq

this is one side dish we have not seen before...it doesnt taste like sotong. till now, we still dont know what it is..it better not be boiled lizard's tail

our marbled beef slice

and a complimentary egg pancake. it looks pretty mediocre, but i really like it! it has the right percentage of crunchiness and fluffiiness an egg pancake should have :)

there...our beef is ready...

i was quite disappointed with it cos it was a little on the chewy side :(
and our must have...ginseng pork belly

verdict?? two thumbs up for the 3rd time round! :)

look at the fatty 3 layer...*drools*
and to fill in the blanks, we had chicken in sweet soya sauce

simple and delicious!
total dinner amounted to around rm124.20 (inclusive of free flow drinks + free flow side dishes + 10% service tax). Price of the bbq was between the range of rm25-rm45 per set.

The Horrible Incident
Still remember my Pekingese..DeeDee??
Not sure whether any of you have heard about pekingese eyes popping out of its sockets...but i have...and if u have not, then you have! lol. I heard of it few yrs ago and i was like half laughing to myself...hw could that happen...Until last nite...being chap goh meh and all...the neighbourhood tried to outdo each other with endless firecrackers and fireworks...
at around 8pm...my mum went out to put the dogs into their cage for the nite and saw my dog deedee with one eye hanging out of its socket!!! THE HORROR!!! I was SHOCKED beyond words...and didnt know what to do for a moment...
I knwo its unbelievable...but u better believe it! This is the first time i see this...and the painful thing was he was still moving around as if nothing happened...altho he was distressed..arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
"I have recived a few ugly emails stating I am miss leading people into thinking a Pekingese eyes will not pop out of their head. I have spoke with Vets and Vet techs and there was the same responce from all of them. No a Pekingese eyes will not "just pop out" for NO reason. Its not like they are going to be just walking along and one day and the eye is going to fall out. HOWEVER if one becomes very upset and begains to strain (thus causing the eyes to buldge) the eye sockets are shallow enough to cause the eye to pop out due to the pressure from behind the eye. If they catch the eye on something or hit it on something the eye can pop out. And a blow to the head can cause it to pop out." (from http://www.pekingesebyseminoleranch.com/Questions_about_Pekingese.php)
We suspect the fireworks scared him and perhaps he knocked against something in his distress.
The doc had to remove that eye cos we didnt discover him soon enough :(

So went sent him to the vet and the vet acted as tho pekingese with eyes hanging out of their sockets come to see her everyday =_=
Apparently its a common thing with pekingese...i quote

Hello 2009, Goodbye 2008!
Spent our holiday on the 29th of Dec watching movies at the Star Cineplex...2 movies in 1 afternoon...back to back...wahaha...
yeah crazy i know...the worst thing was, both movies were almost equally bad :(
The Day the earth stood still sucks...and so did The Spirit altho not as bad 'x'
By the time we finished, i was movie-sick...feeling dizzy and nauseous =s
In between movies, i managed to shoot a few shots of kuchign city from the balcony...
Really like how the colorful shophouses look on the cool afternoon
At times we really take our little city for granted...always complaining of how backwards it is...but that afternoon i realised how our city is beautiful with its a unique rustic charm
and this is going to be my customary new year post in my blog :P
Wishing you a happy new year 2009...hope 2008 has treated you well...
I have given up on new year's resolutions 2 yrs ago...so there's nothing of that sort here :D
