The Many Faces of Yiu Char Kueh

Had breakfast of yiu char kueh this morning :)

Read this post on yiu char kueh first, if you do not know what is yiu char kueh...kekeke

Actually there are many ways to eat yiu char kueh...i think its one of the very flexible local kueh...cos you can eat it with almost everything...

Its actually elongated pieces of deep fried kueh made of flour, i spose?

I would prefer nice crispy ones tho some ppl might prefer those that are chewy ...

So we were at Foody Goody (at Stutong) this morning, and i ordered RM1 of those YCK (short form for YIU CHAR KUEH ma) which consists of 3 sticks of those YCK.

And a bowl of Yellow Bean, is that the correct english name??haha im not even too sure about the chinese name...lek tau suan isit? i gez la 'x'

As you can see...its quite normal to dunk the cut pieces of YCK into it...and it sort of adds a different twist to the dessert

But then...there's another way that old folks like to have their YCK...

That is ... dip the YCK into black old COFFEE~~ :)

Im sure this is the coffee queen's preferred way kua???kekekeke





I m not sure why chinese invented so many ways to eat their YCK...i think its sort of like the westerner's way of having breakfast of cereal and milk...KEKEKE


But then hor...this morning we found out a NEW way to eat YCK!!!

That is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!











Dipping YCK into your leftover laksa soup!!~~~




HAHAHAHAAH...what a clever way to use up your leftover soup rite???LOL LOL...

Its quite nice lor!

In fact, i prefer the last manner of eating YCK...hahaha

Okla have to give the credit to him lo...you just have to count on him to come up with weird ideas...wahahaah...sure get some scolding for saying this :)~~



Oh btw...i bought something funny just now...YAP! i went shopping!!! YAY! :)

We were walking thru the rows upon rows of very old shops in Padungan just now and we found a shop selling a lot of weird looking stuff at 70% storewide discount!~~~

Chippity Squirrel

Actually there is no such thing as a chippity squirrel..but i was going to blog about chips and squirrel and chippity squirrel just popped out..WAHAHA..

Ok..as i was chatting or rather emailing with Selba this afternoon, my mom bought some chips from indonesia yesterday.

Yesterday was Indonesia's national day and the Indonesia Consulate here had a food fair!

So my mom went and bought a few packets of these chips...




I have never before seen such chips in my whole life wo!

So i just had to post these up for some verification from Selba..kekeke



The chip had a bitter aftertaste...but the initial bite was quite nice...abit like potato chips :)
Even tho its bitter, after a few pieces, the bitterness gets bearable lor...i think its addiction..haha

My mom said its made from some kinda tree bark???so could it be some unidentified drugs?!? No wonder im feeling a little woozy today..LOL

Now we come to the squirrel part...

Jap Food and Groceries...

Hi...here are some photos of some jap dishes i had recently...

After the jap food..i went to a nearby grocery store to buy some groceries lor...

Its supposedly a shop owned by a parisian who's currently staying here in kuching because his wife is a kuching-ite

A jar of freshly packed olives ...

Ooh i just love miniatures...the first few jap food miniatures were bought from singapore last year....complete with tray and all..but the trays have been collecting dust since last year...so they r not presentable enuf to appear here..wahahaha

The miniature dishes itself were also full of dust..but i gave them a bath before i took pics of them :P

As for the mini mini groceries...i just bought them from Mivalley,KL....SOOO CUUUTEEE

And so intricately designed la those little pieces...each around the size of my little finger ...cute rite? :)

I love the eggs the most!!..the 6 little eggs can even be removed y'know????

I wish i had bought more of 'em ... *sigh*

Absent Mindedness

There have been certain incidents in my life which made me realised how absent minded or 'blur' i am...hehehe...I just realised a few incidents (two to be exact) which made me laugh out loud even as i recall them now.

Allow me to narrate them to you with some added expressions of cos :)

YAY! today is story telling day :p

Incident No 1 :

It was the semester break of 2003 (wahaha...add some drama abit) and i had made an appointment with a coursemate of mine to meet up at my house for some baking the next day. heh...those were the good old days...baking (or rather EXPERIMENTING was more like it) during our semester break..so fun :P

So come the next morning...my handphone rang while i was still in bed (oops 'x'). So since i was still not really awake yet...i just took my phone and pressed the answer button without looking at who it was.

***since its difficult to be expressive with only words..i've decided to make a comic strip out of it..muahaha...so theres pictures after all! pls pardon my very ugly drawing oh...thats the best i can come out with :(

Cooling Down

When will the hot weather ever stop???

argh...cant stand it anymore...at times like these...i wish i were at work with free air con the whole day long...muahahaha

Due to several complains from Doctor Chen, i will cut my post short... :(

She complained that my previous posts were too long and as a result she posted up equally long comments to match my long posts and made me out of breath as i read her comments...wahhahha

Today was a really hot day...if not hotter than saturday =
What to do ler? It seems the hot weather is here to say...so might as well cool ourselves down...how???

This is my white lady~



HEH..a mixture of watermelon,honeydew,papaya and even jackfruit! Topped with condensed milk and lots n lots n lots of ICE!!!!

WOOHOOHOOO...a nice treat on a sunny sunday :)

Only RM1.50...this is totally so cheap compared to the ice blended i had yesterday ...LOL..this also ice blended ma...got ice wat...LOL

We had those at the stalls near Hai Pa Wang and next to the chung hua God knows which number school 'x'

I really cant remember the number so n so chung hua school..so many of them la..cant blame me :P

But i remembered the stalls selling ice kacang and belacan beehoon used to be those rickety wooden stalls ...and it has been sooo long since we last went there and was quite surprised to see the stalls relocated to a newly built place....

From afar it looks like a toilet...WAHAHAHA...



Only when we drove closer, we saw people sitting around and realised that the stalls have been relocated :P

Then after the deliciously cooling treat...we head out for some shopping..but it is still TOO HOT

And again i bought some very cooling AIR BUAH MATA KUCING




Drinking ice cold air mata kucing under the shade of a tree...kekekeek

AHHHHHHHHHHHH nice n cooling :)

So thats how i spent a sunny sunday afternoon ... yup i was only left with a sunday AFTERNOON to spend after sleeping for the whole morning...WAHAHAHA! 'x'

In fact, i didnt even know where it was until my friend pointed out the location to me...oh ddddear, she having just come back from KL after 1 yr and me the loyal Kuchingite didnt even know its existence????

hmmmmmmm...need to go back and by heart kch map...wahahaha~

I quite like the place lor...nice ambience,nice drinks,cooling shelter from the ^#@% heat...ok that does it!..LOL




Best of all...i love their ice blended...




Each costs RM10...

TSK TSK TSK..sure my mama's gonna hit the roof if she found out we drank a cup of "MILO" for rm10!wahahaha

Which made us try to find out how they made ice blended drinks...so that we could save our hard earned money by making our own ice blended

We sipped and sipped and chup chup chup...and only managed to find out the ingredients used....haii no use la...might as well pay RM10 for the ice blended.

Ok..and with that we reach the last topic for the day...

JIGSAW PUZZLES~ :)

Do you like jigsaws???? huh huh?? do you?

I remember my mom used to buy me lots and lots of jigsaw puzzles during my very very long year end holidays last time. I think she just wanted to keep me out of trouble =
And on the other hand, she would have nice jigsaw puzzles to hang around the house...killing two birds with one stone...tsk tsk tsk tsk...

So we bought a very expensive jigsaw puzzle piece from KL the other day..

Well according to my standards...it is xpensive tho...

Cos i've never bought a jigsaw worth RM81 before...oh no..never in my life...




Its a glow in the dark, dolphin skipetty skip skip around jigsaw! 'x'

Darn it! You could see the shadow of my hand in the photo...gaya hor??? little finger hanging out like that to take pic...WAHAHAHAHAH

Ok...and its another entry to my list of first times... to....

Speaking of church...haiii...feel tired and fed up with the church thing :(

I m a member of the church choir u see....and no! im not a singer in the choir...hey! you don have to be a singer to be in a choir k ? 'x'

You can be a musician ma??? rite rite?? erm ok lets not digress...

So im in a choir...and the reason im in the choir is bcos i have to help up my dad...who is in charge of the choir lor...

I was practically VOLUNTEERED into this whole thing...but i never volunteered myself...*ahem*

Then hor...there's this one person in the choir whom you dont like....what to do??? Continue going to the choir practises and ignore that person and make your own life difficult cos you have to see someone you dont like every single week...OR just quit lor....make your life easier :)

For malaysians who are able to produce MyKad,it is cheaper lor...RM28...kids with MyKid (never knew that kids nowadays have MyKid...what a name ..kekeke) can go in at a minimal price of RM12 err or RM8?? okay..im not a very good blogger :(

But the good thing is hor....when i produced my Identity card, the lady asked me IS YOUR BIRTHDAY IN AUGUST?? (hinting to everyone again...ahem) i said UHUH...

And she said...we r having a promotion for those who r born in august...cos you only need to pay half of the entrance fee
