Thats exactly how i feel like rite now...first of all, suddenly my workload increases so much and i feel overwhelmed :(

Despite having looking forward to it so much... im starting to worry when i hear news about the political chaos going in there :(

Don't worry about the political chaos thing in Thailand... I don't think it will effect to the tourism at all. You just need to avoid places which might have demo.
If you are going with a tour group then the tour guide for sure will bring you to safe places.
Thailand is a nice place to visit. Especially if you like to shopping (go to MBK, chatucak market, Lumpini bazaar night market), then you can enjoy the delicious food, visit many interesting places like the palace, temples, ride a boat, floating market etc. And don't forget about those cute Thai guys! hahaha....
I would love to visit Thailand again soon. Was just getting tempted to visit this end of year to see the Floral exhibition in Chiang Mai. You wanna join me? *wink*
