Movie Day!

I know i am quite outdated and left out...but i cant help it :(

I just watched the much anticipated movie of the year last nite ...... THE DA VINCI CODE

Yup, the very controversial movie about the Catholic Church and its very existence and source.

I am a Catholic myself, since birth...i come from a very err..catholic family and everyone has been telling me...NO NO , you musnt support this movie ... its against our Catholic Church.

But then again, i've read the book a year ago...and i found the book quite interesting. The first few chapters of the book was quite monotonous...Robert Langdon and Sophie being chased round and round Paris.

I only actually sit up and concentrate on the book when they reached Leigh Teabing's house, a British who's very obsessed with the Holy Grail. Where Teabing explained that Jesus was a mortal, who even married Mary Magdalene and even had a daughter!!! *eyes open wide*

I must really say Dan Brown is a very good writer. He has managed to put this and that together and make a new point altogether. Therefore, making people actually believe that Jesus IS a mortal.

Before i read the book, i have received comments from others who told me DONT READ THE BOOK, MY FAITH WAVERED AFTER I READ IT.hmmmm

Still i read it la...

But here i am ... still a Catholic :P

After all the hullaballoo about the book, a movie based on the book was released...

OHOHOHO...another uproar from the Christian community.

I cant blame them either...cos there are some people who just believe everything they read and see from the book and from the movie.

I mean how could you let a single FICTION book destroy your years of faith in christianity without any further investigation or research???

The worst thing is ... non-christians or those anti-christians people now have something to say against us.

They might laugh at us and point fingers and laugh ...

So...i still think that it is not really such a good idea that a movie was produced based on this book.Cos now....every tom dick and harry who do not (or cannot) appreciate a good novel will be able to watch this movie and all will say HAHAHA JESUS WAS A MORTAL... definitely not a good idea

Why, there were even some weirdos in the cinema with us last night who seemed to have believed every single word they see in the movie. Idiots! 'x'

They were talking and shining their obscenely-BRIGHT handphone screen rite in the cinema ...and moving around... changing seats...

GRRRR...hellooo??? if you cant watch an english movie, pls go out and have some kolo mee or drink cola ok??? Cos everyone else who CAN understand the movie, would want to enjoy the movie...so there 'x'

So anyway, i was soooo happy with Star Cineplex last nite....why???

Cos its soo empty! so glad~~ ^_^

We could even sit and have a nice quiet chat on the chairs provided there...

And the best thing is...we managed to get a nice seat for the movie even tho we arrived only 35 minutes before the movie started.....OH JOY~ :P



See???

I am so gonna watch movies on NON-movie days from now on. The few extra Ringgit i paid for my tickets on a non movie day is so much worth the shoving and pushing on movite nite....

OK..so the movie...

It was so so ... i would give it an 8.5 if i had not read the book...but because i've read the book before i would give it an 8.0

hahahah...

I just absolutely love Tom Hank's acting...so nice!! and its a plus point for him being err..quite good looking la ^_^

But then, just because i've read the book i have noticed that they have left out one or two details which i think would be important in order to make the audience fully understand the movie. But i cant blame them, cos the movie is already a 2 and a half hour long...add in more details, and we would have to spend the night in the cinema 'x'

However, they really did a good job in illustrating all the historical points being explained by the Robert Langdon and Leigh Teabing. I lurve that...i think this is the first time i saw a movie doing such a good job in illustrating all those factual points.



But one thing which rather disturbed me is that.........they have modified certain parts of the book :( booooooooooo

definitely a minus point for that!

In the book, Jacques Sauniere is really the grandpapa of Sophie Neveu.But the movie said she is not!

And then i don really like it when suddenly a whole lot of people turned up to meet Sophie at the Rosslyn Chapel when Sophie and Robert visited the chapel..that is just so corny~~

These and others...these were not in the book...

Overall, i would still say the movie is a good one and the book is a good read. And for those out there who really believed that Jesus is a mortal after watching the movie....i tell you, the truth is out there~~ :P

National Geographic Special

I received a mail entitled "Best Photo from National Geographic Channel" this morning...

With this picture...





There's a deer in the pic (pointed by the yellow arrow) running at such an INCREDIBLE speed that it actually WALKED ON THE WATER!

Isnt that amazing???

So i studied this picture for a while ...and sent it out to him...

He replied me saying ... 'IS THIS TRUE???'

Well..of cos its true..cos its an authentic pic from National Geographic itself!

Even so, it is a little hard to believe that a little deer like that could run sooooooooooooo fast without any err...motivation...

So i thought and thought ... and realised that, there must have been something missing from the pic above...something that the National Geographic people didnt think ought to be shown to the public...

When it finally hit me...












There!!.. Now dont u think it is much easier to believe why the deer would run THAT fast ???

Interesting Story

Was clearing up my office inbox..

could you believe it??? my inbox is taking up 1gig of my hard disk space!!

Certainly need some cleaning up!

But it was rather interesting to read all those previous forward mails..some funny some touching stories, some meaningful quotes...

Actually , i was telling myself hmm i should blog about this whenever i found somethign interesting,but if i were to post each and every one of them up...it will be alot!

Educational Night

Hi!

There's only around half an hour of 6/6/06 left :)

So .. im gonna post a blog on this day so that i will remember it lo...

Was watching the National Geographic Channel the whole nite. That is something out of the ordinary, cos i dont usually watch TV, let alone watch National Geographic la...hehehe

Actually, there was nothing really good on tv too...we were wanting to wait for Spongebob Squarepants to show at 9.30 and it was only 9pm, so we did some channel-hopping and found the long lost National Geographic channel ^_^



But i must praise the channel for its really interesting shows. One after another...

At 9 pm 2nite, they were showing a series on flight disasters...

Tonite they were talking about how a group of siao,chao terrorists in Iraq tried out their newly found homing missile near the Baghdad International Airport.

They chin chai aim at any plane flying out of the airport and the unlucky plane was the DHL Airbus carrying all the mails from US for the American soldiers who were serving there at that time lo (Nov 2003)

The homing missile struck one of the wings of the plane and the plane like totally lost control lo. Cos it damaged the errrr....network of hydraulic pipes in the plane and made the pilots lost control of the plane....erm something like that la... i m no aeronautics enginner k? 'x'

So the 3 people on board were really KENG la...they somehow managed to bring the plane to a safe landing after a gruelling battle to stabilise the wavering plane.

Ok those are some pretty boring stuffs...

Which brings me to the point im trying to point out here...

So, NASA saw that there have been quite a number of plane crashes caused by the failure of its hydraulic system. Therefore, they came out with a solution!!!

Now what solution is that???

It is simple.....COMPUTERISE THE PLANE....wahahahaahahahah

at the end, those pilots and engineers and what nots still need to come back to us IT people for help!!! muahahaahahahah ... so proud!

NASA has developed a software which will send instructions to the engines in the case of failure in the hydraulic systems,so that the engines will control the flight of the plane instead of depending on the hydraulic systems alone. This i think is still not possible as of yet.

The show 2nite...made me really proud once again to be a Software Programmer...kekekeke...even tho, i only develop crappy web based systems...oh well.... =

I m a Survivor!!!

Phewwww i have survived yet another difficult Monday!!! woohooo~~~




Haha for those who dont know, it has been a public holiday in Kuching since Thursday. So that makes it a FOUR DAY WEEKENDS!!! Life just cannot get any better than this! :)))

But as happy as i may be, still, life has to get back to normal on Monday :(((

And those Mondays after a long long weekend is always exceptionally difficult to digest.

It is EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFICULT to wake up
EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFICULT to eat my breakfast
EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFICULT to get my car out of the driveway
EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFICULT to tolerate those idiotic drivers
EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFICULT to drag my heavy feet into my office

haiya...in short, everything is EXCEPTIONALLY DIFFICULT la...

But here i am again!!! Another difficult monday defeated and OVER! :)

I have been dreading today since the holiday begun, cos i am supposed to do deployment to our live server again :(

Bad things always happen when i deploy stuffs, you kno...cant login, cant access important functionalities and things like that. And then, i would have to stay back after office hours...OHH! the agony!

But today's deployment was an exception! Cos things went A-OK! *fingers crossed* x)

Even if things were to go bad 2moro...its ok....cos it is no longer a MONDAY! YAY

Ok...i think thats about enough to talk about on a BLUE MONDAY...

07/07/07 would be a great day to have any special occasions cos...i lurve the number 777, the bible has always associated the number 7 with God and other such holy entities 'x', my house number is 777 (oops), erm...and best of all 07/07/07 is a SATURDAY! a non working day! :)

Why Watching a Movie in the Cinema Isnt Such a Good Idea...

Lets compare Scenario A and Scenario B :

Scenario A

Mission : Watch X-MEN 3

Drove all the way to Riverside Cineplex on Wednesday evening, to catch the 9pm movie cos its usually not as packed as Star Cineplex. When we reached there, the parking is already full so we decided to try our luck at Star lo...

When we reached there, the car park was full and we had to queue for a while before we could find an empty space. Being there at the Star Cineplex car park made me realised one fact tho ... Kuching is full of idiotic drivers who think they r so good they do not have to queue up like everybody else.

Ok...so found a parking space and went up to Star Cineplex. It was jam-packed with people~~~ Queued up and found that the 9pm movie is fully booked and so is the 10 pm one :(

So we decided that we should come again on the next day (which is today) to try out our luck.

Come day two...we went straight to Riverside Cineplex knowing that Star will of cos packed again since its a holiday. Reached there at around 1pm to catch the 2.15pm movie. Booked our tickets and thank God there IS a place for us. Smiling happily we proceeded to the Ground Floor to have our lunch.

KFC is full....so is the eatery owned by Giant and we r left with only one choice...........Sugarbun..... boooooooo

LOL... i m never a great fan of Sugarbun. I am not sure why. The food is ok ... but i dont really like their service. They are slooooowwwwwwww...

Anyway, went up to the cineplex at 2pm and happily went in to watch the rather hard-to-get X-Men III....

It was quite good, but then ... when it came to the part where the Mutants......ermmmmm I'd better not reveal anything here...wahahhhaha...

Ok...so when it came to the part where theres a lot of action....you could say it was the finale....BAM! The movie became a silent one!

There was ABSOLUTELY no sound at all except for the BOOS and complains of the viewers...and this went on for at least 10 minutes before the sound came back and by that time the action was all over!

BOOHOOHOOO!!! We want a refund!!!!

So thats the end of Scenario A... and lets look at the expenses incurred:

Tickets (RM9 * 2) = RM18
Parking fee = RM 3
Titbits (from the overpriced cineplex snack bar) = RM 7

***titbits include 2 bottles of mineral water and a packet of cheezels

and WAHLAHHH... we have a grand total of RM28

Time incurred for Scenario A : TWO freaking days


Scenario B

Mission : Watch X-MEN 3

Drive to saberkas and drop by Empire. Open eyes up wide and look for X-MEN III ...AHA! There it is!

Proceed to counter and fork out RM8.

Drive home ....

Oh wait!!

Stop by at a nearby supermarket and buy some cheezels for ONLY RM1.60 ( no need to buy water la )

Go home...change into your comfortable t shirt ...

Kick up your feet ...

and WAHLAHHH!... you have XMEN III

Now lets look at the expenses incurred in Scenario B :

DVD : RM8
CHEEZELS : RM1.60

Grand total : RM9.60

Time Incurred : 2 hours


So there you have it ... really something to ponder upon really....

A Series of Unfortunate Events

Had my usual weekly lunch with Red Sponge, 13th Panda and fel :P

But this pre-holiday lunch was a series of unfortunate events...well, a series of TWO unfortunate events to be exact...

If you would be interested enough to read this post, you would know what happend the last time i had my lunch at Jade Pot (Jalan Keretapi branch)

I found free of charge extras in my vegies...

I think snails are pretty much harmless and so i didnt complain about it that time...

But today, since, it has been soooo long since the last tmie we went there...i suggested going there lo...cos i like their milk tea.

So someone rather 'lucky' said she was full la..cos eating bak zhang la..etc etc :P

And despite Red Sponge and my suggestion to order dumplings..she wanted to order the WANTON SOUP lo...

When it first came, we all agreed that it looked really nice...with seaweed and vege and fishballs...

I remembered Red Sponge even saying she would want to order that next time...

So slurp slurp went 13th Panda until...........................

She saw a murdered external entity in her soup...and she started making sobbing sounds...HA!

it was a FLY~~~ O_O

I didnt get to personally see it la...but acc to Red Spogne and fel , it was quite big...

So we called the one of the workers over....in fact, i wanted to wave the BOSS to come but he didnt or pretended to not see me or something...

When the worker came over...

I told her THERES FLY IN YOUR SOUP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wahahaah..gaya ho? 'x'

okla..minus the exclamation marks...we r a bunch of civilised lots bo

and the worker gave a very weird reaction...

her facial expression showed SURPRISED and DISGUST at the same time and she went quiet for a while

Without saying anything much, she just took our receipt and muttered a sorry...MUTTERED i tell u!!! the very nerve of her...

13th Panda on the other hand, was ironically still laughing... LOL LOL

After a moment, the worker came back with our receipt and said she wouldnt be charging 13th Panda for that bowl of soup.

I looked back at the counter and saw the BOSS's surprised face..clearly having being told about the little happening already!

And he couldnt even bother to come over and APOLOGISE to us!!!

SHID! Think we r so cheap skate meh??? Give us free lunch then we will forget about it??????

tsk tsk tsk...what a lousy establishment!

Actually, he should have given us ALL a free lunch! :D

The young boss is quite a cute guy la ... but cute or not .. i m never going back there again!.. Unless my car breaks down and i have nowhere else to have lunch :P

So we were nagging and scolding at the shop as we walked out and suddenly someone slipped on the road curb....KEKEKEKEEKE...

Thats weird...she didnt even touch the FLY INFESTED SOUP but already she is feeling woozy....HAHAAHAHAHAHAHA 'x'

SEE SEE SEE??

That makes 3 reasons why you shouldnt go to Jade Pot (JALAN KERETAPI BRANCH! Not sure about the one in Jln Song Thian Cheok).

So if you dont believe me and would like to try out Jade Pot for yourself...a note of advice tho :

1. Watch out for snails in ur vegies
2. Watch out for flies in your soup
3. Watch out for slippery road curbs in front of the shop

Chilling out in Koh Lan Island

Hi there!

Just managed to get back online after a few days of not being able to go online. I thought there was something wrong with streamyx (again!) but just found out that somehow, my username and password was reset .. hmm tats weird...

btw...im not blogging from the office ok? Im on sick leave today ...bleks :p

Wanna know why?!?!?

I lost another teeth again!!! BOOHOOHOOOOOO...

Red Sponge told me that if i were to blog about me having my tooth extracted again, my readers would all think that i have lousy black teeth which needs to be extracted every month...WAHAHAHAHAH

But i can assure you that is not at all the case! I have pretty teeth 'x' Only problematic wisdom teeth...so sadd :(

Why other ppl's wisdom teeth can grow nicely but mine have to be extracted?!?!!?!?

So anyway, this shud b the final episode on my Thailand Trip... ya i know its very late...but its better late than never!

Our 3rd day of the Thai trip was mostly dedicated to beach and water sports lo...

Apart from the shopping on the fourth day...the beach outing on the 3rd day was the next best thing i have been looking forward to ever since we got out tour itinerary..hehehe

I think Thailand is rather famous for its scenic beaches and altho Koh Lan is not exactly one of its best beaches...still im happy lo!.. Cos im a BEACH PERSON...! :)))

So from pattaya, we will have to use a speed boat to reach the Koh Lan Island...it took us around 30 minutes.

But before, we reach Koh Lan island,we made a stopover at a certain floating platform where anyone who are interested or up to the challenge or those who still have extra money after pocket burning shows in pattaya.....................to ... do this.......




What do you call this??? Wind surfing? err.... oops...i dont even knwo the exact name of this water sport.



But basically you would be attached to this parachute-like thingy and you would be tied to a speedboat who will pull you so that you would fly in the air...hahahaa...

Definitely not for the faint -hearted.

If i had converted a lot mroe Baht , i might have consider this ... but ... my heart is willing, but the purse is weak :(

Surprisingly, not evne one of us in our tour group are up to this challange..so we just hung around the floating platform to take some pics and look around.




After that, its off to Koh Lan for us!! YAY!!!

I really love sitting in the bumpy speedboat...i felt so refreshed and relaxed just looking at nothing but the turquoise ocean for miles and miles ahead...and not forgetting the breezy ocean breeze blowing thru ur hair.........AHHHHHHHHH...



After about 20 minutes, we caught sight of the island...





First stop,

find a spot among in the umbrella-covered area...



We were so happy when we found this row upon rows of omfortable deck chairs for us to sit on...and not forgetting the really big umbrella shading us from the bright sunshine...

So were happily resting our tired butts on the chair..when our tour guide told us ...that we will have to pay 20 Baht for each chair!!




Its not that expensive la...its like only ard RM2 ma...but the point is, these Thais really know how to earn money from tourists!

But who can resist a view like this...




I mean the blue ocean of cos! Not the lady standing there!...


So what is there to do while we are here???

Well, before our butts have even warmed up the seats...theres this lady who came over with a catalogue!! Yes a catalogue! Full of photos...

And she started asking us which water activity we would like to try out. And of cos,every single thing costs money....

Theres snorkeling,banana boating,jet skiing,etc etc...coulndt really catch her mandarin...WAHAHAHA...

And we chose the cheapest water sports....BANANA BOAT :)



Its this inflatable boat which can carry 5 persons at the maximum and its also pulled by a jet ski... The fee : 750 baht

Before we errrr...boarded the boat...the lady asked us whether or not we want the boat to flip?? And all 5 of us were like NO NO NO NO!

hahahaah...cos we din bring any change of clothes u kno???

Then she said no flip, no fun

We said its ok!...better no fun than no clothes 'x'

So she told us that if we didnt wanto flip, we should keep the boat stable and not lean to the side...to which we all agree lo

So off we go...~~

It was pretty fun la... this is my first time on a banana boat...oh poor me! So i wont give any details on the ride itself la...

Before the ride started, i thought it was pretty easy not to lean to the side ... but then, its not so easy when the jet ski is going pretty fast :((

After about 10 minutes.....

We were in the water!!!

Sob sob..drenched from head to toe...

After the first fall, we were getting adventurous.... no more fears of getting wet! WAHAHAHAH
we were wet already anyway :
After frollicking a while in the water....we explored the many stalls on the island.

There was this stall selling seafood! Looked soo tempting but i didnt dare try it out tho... i wouldnt want to spend the rest of my holiday in the toilet...WAHAHAHA.. i have senstivie tummy ma...

After a while , our tour guide asked us to pack our stuffs and get ready for the ride back to Pattaya :(

Thats the problem with joining a tour...you can never have your own free time... everywhere you go theres this big nanny who would hurry you on to the next agenda...but cant blame them either la

hahaah among the many animal shows we have been to , i love the elephant show the best! They are so intelligent and cute!




I lurve the baby elepahts the most...so cuuuuuuute... i wanna buy one home! :)

It would be better than any Thai made Levis jeans...wahahaha..

The elephants performed many feats and tricks...so clever!

They actually can aim you know? I kno it, cos we saw the elephant closing one eye when he was about to throw the darts...super clever!

After the enjoyable elephant show...we were off to take a walk in the garden that is also within the premises of the elephant show...

Theres only one word to describe the garden...

BEAUTIFUL!

Certainly a place for those who are interested in taking nice pics of the green green grass :)

Kuching should have a garden like this..

Then those wedding photographers would have somewhere better for their photoshoot...LOL





The grass is so greeeennn..if not for the hot weather , it would have been an enjoyable walk. But then again, what have i to complain?? At least it wasnt raining and we could take a nice leisurely walk around the garden...



The place looks as if its from some computer game like Mario...why, i almost saw mario jumping around the mushroom like tree....

In actual fact, i love Pattaya more than Bangkok itself...hahahaa...



Night life....beautiful beaches...shopping....i think its a compact city :) all in one place


It was a tiring but a day full of enjoyment...and what better way to end our trip in Pattaya than to enjoy Fried Squid in the comfort of our hotel room~ ... hehehe.... really tasted good...or was i that hungry?? :D

Night life in Pattaya (Part 4)

If some of ye o faithful readers of mine have noticed, the previous post was Part 2 but here i am jumping to Part 4 oredi!

Wanna know why???

Cos i just cant wait to talk about night life in pattaya.... :D

So i think it is only appropriate that i skip the rest of the tiger zoo and not keep you guys out there in suspense and anticipation!

Now ... what is there to see in pattaya....................... at nite???

I would say this is a MUST SEE for any first time visitor to Pattaya...




Ta daaaaa....the ALCAZAR SHOW!

More simply or more 'phai-thialy' called the AH GUA SHOW lo....hehehehe

Tickets are RM60 per person and i tell you! My rm60 was never more well spent on any other show than the Alcazar!

No regrets!

Someone was hesitating and neede quite a lot of persuasion before he agreed to go to the show with me ... and i bet he didnt regret it either!

Cos he was quite quiet for most parts of the show....WAHAHAHAHA.. its THAT goood, i tell you!

Reaaaaallly good effects, talented and errr....beautiful performers, really nice and attractive backdrops...! Just plain good la i tell you!

But among all the fair and beautiful performers on stage that nite...there was a particular one that reaallly really caught my eye .... heheheeheheh

So i was wondering...guys out there....if someone like err....HER fell in love with you...would you be willing to overlook her past and well, have a relationship with errm... HER?

So anyway, after the show...everyone could actually take some photos with the performers of your choice for a very cheap price of 40 baht (equivalent to RM4).

So as expected, yours truly was waiting in front of the said performer ( like a puppy waiting for milk from its owner) for her to beckon me forward to have my photo taken with er....wahahahah

After that show ...... we were straight away brought to another place for another show .... which is of a rather different kind

YA YA so i DID went to THAI GIRLS SHOW.... THAI GIRLS mind you, not TIGERS 'x'

I've heard that some old tourists were confused with the name of the show...

TOURIST GUIDE: lai lai uncle ,auntie i bring you all to thai girls show ok?
UNCLE AND AUNTIE : wahhhh....tiger show ah??? CAN CAN!

heee....

nothing much to say or show regarding this show...cos no camera is allowed within the premises. Not even your handphone...tsk tsk tsk....need so strict for what. they even check your bags to make sure you don smuggle any device into the theatre.

So whats it about???

About thai GIRLS lo....need i say more?

oh..sorry...NAKED thai girls i mean 'x'

Being of a female species myself, the show doesnt really interest me la...i think its a pity why they have to misuse their 'ASSETS' for abnormal uses just to attract tourists and earn money for a living. It is rather pitiful.

Hmmm...i don want to say more la...just in case some of you might be planning to go for the show in the near future. don wanto spoil the surprise ma rite? *Wink*

But one word of advice tho, this show is not the faint hearted and pls pls pls do not EVEN attempt to leave DURING the show.cos it might result in some unwanted happenings.

U might end up getting a black eye from the usher....wahahhhahaah...

So weird la this show...so many restrictions....

My RM60 could have been beter spent elsewhere....like erm...on that shirt i had my eyes on in MBK SHOPPING COMPLEX...hee...
