hehe...i encountered something i found pretty amusing when i was chatting with Red Sponge via net send in office today.
She was sending me a message that goes like this ... “angry”
so i replied her this ...
“*Angry* or Angry”
hahahahaha....dont u think its funny???
hmm .. ok for the sake of those who dont understand me...i think this culture/habit/syntax originated from the early days of chatting i guess...
hmm i cant remember what these little phrases are called...
its like
*Pink cotton nudges Red Sponge in the rib*
or
*Red Sponge jumps up and down out of joy*
ahhhh i hope u get the picture.
Words enclosed in asterisks (*) simply signify an action. So if Red Sponge meant *Angry* that means shes angry. But if its just Angry that could mean a question that shes asking me...like, Angry???
And there's this commonly used Internet culture...typing in capital letters...
before the Internet, it doesnt matter to people whether or not you are typing in caps or not...it doesnt make a difference.
I wouldnt say the same now...
Observe the 2 sentences below :
“Can you please re-type this paragraph?”
“CAN YOU PLEASE RE-TYPE THIS PARAGRAPH?”
Email the second sentence to anyone and you would probly get a reply that goes like this..
“SAY PROPERLY LAH!!! WHAT FOR SHOUT SHOUT???”
heehhehe..
Isnt it amazing how the widespread use of internet has changed our way of communicating??? LOL...
ah!!! thats another one!!!...LOL.....yes! The word “LOL”
few years back, i remember chatting with a friend who obviously didnt spend enough time on the internet...so there we were ...chatting in ICQ..
friend : bla bla bla ( something funny i gez)
me : LOL
friend : whats LOL???
me : errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
my goodness, thanks to internet chatting..i've begun to use the word “LOL” as if it was a legal word in the english vocabulary..!! isnt that amazing??? LOL...oops there i go again!
It is now such a widely used word/phrase that, EVERYONE is using it. Its revolutionary!!!
I think by the time our children makes it to university, English as we know now would have changed. Perhaps LOL would be included as a grammatically correct word in the Oxford dictionary...and if that happens..! Remember... that we used it FIRST! :)
