Sarawak Laksa in Penang!

Yeah! you heard me right! I had sarawak laksa for breakfast today...in Penang! :D I bet most of you Kuchingites who stay in Penang would be dying to know where right? Lol. When i uploaded the photo to my facebook this morning, almost immediately few of my Kuchingite friends asked me where is the stall. I guess we Kuchingites really love our sarawak laksa.

The stall is at the Sim Food Court (Medan Selera Sim) which is within the Kampung Gedung Apartment.

The food court can be quite tricky to find if you are not familiar with that area. But the trick is to park your car somewhere near Block 70/72 or 74 of the apartment and if you walk around, you should be able to catch sight of the rounded arched roof of the food stalls. The stall is called the Sarawak Mee and there's a handwritten note saying "Sarawak Laksa only on Sundays" :D

Those who are in Kuching will say eww so oily/so spicy/not authentic. I'm sorry to say, it doesnt beat the best sarawak laksa stalls in Kuching itself but this is sarawak laksa minus a few things like the coriander leaves (wan sui) on top, taugeh and bigger prawns. I dont know how to explain to you but the taste of Sarawak Laksa is there! In fact, when i had this it was almost as if i was back in Kuching :)

The sambal that came with the laksa is a bit different from what we have back home too. Its a little on the dry side and a little salty but i dont mind much. Like i said beggars cant be choosers. Isnt it great we can get to eat sarawak laksa in Penang? :D

While we were eating, the bf told me the couple in the next table is also having sarawak laksa. "Do you think they are from Kuching too?" he asked me...i looked at the next table and guess what? The guy is someone i know from my school. LOL! Like i said, we Kuchingites really love our laksa.
