i have a question for you all...
how do you determine whether a person is auntie/uncle material??
i mean how many yrs older does a person have to be, b4 you r considered 'young' enough to call him/her uncle/auntie leh?
10?20? 30??
of cos those who r 40 yrs++ older than you are considered AH KONG/AH MA la!..kekeke
b4 i started work...this doesnt seem to be much of an issue to me...
i mean, all my parents' friends automatically gain the auntie/uncle status regardless of how old they r...
and of cos my all my sisters' friends become koko/che-che also lor...
but when i started work and started to mingle around with ppl who are of the same age as my sisters and some who are even in the same age range as my parents...and i start calling them by their first name..
that was when things start to get weird :P
i mean they r considered as my friends/colleagues even tho they are old enough to be my dad/mom and therefore should be consider a 'peer'??
hehehee
you cant expect me to start calling them uncle in the office mah rite???
so i started to take things for granted and one day i came home to find my mom's friends chatting with my mom...
so i walked in and gave them a casual "HI!"
to which my mom replied irritably "NO MANNERS AH!WHAT HI???...CALL AUNTIE LAH"
oops! ....
these friends of my mom are of the same age as those ppl in office i call by their first name lor....so how leh???
hmmmm *deep thought*
p/s i don wanto start calling Chen JIE JIE...ROTFL!

I'm sometimes at a loss on what to ask my friends kids to call me instead! call me jiejie? I'm not getting any younger leh. call me auntie? I'm not that old either. I leave it up to my friends these days, and close one ear... or two...
for colleagues, it's ok to just call by first name kwa. unless it's a nickname to call them by some "rank". everyone used to call my mom "madam" in her office because she's been there for years, so regal! heheh!

A 5-year-old philosophy:
Aunty - a married woman
Chey Chey/Chabo - a single lady (or more precise a virgin)
HAHAHAHAHAH
eh, pc, u got how many cheycheys??
dun simply call people aunty or uncle.. pantang tau..
if really old then ok.. if not tht old hor.. just say hi will do..

I usually call my parent's friends auntie/uncle and of course my relatives. Other than that, I treat everyone as peers. Sometimes, I even go with the casual "hi" and my parents are pretty fine with that. You have to tell your parents it's the 21st century now.. hahaha
papercrazy:don wanto answer u ...you.....FAKER!!!
sengkor:OH?angel oredi taught me to call u AH SENG KOR KOR..wahahaha
yenchiew:WAH!..this is scary!..LOL...best thing is to 'HI' everyone :P
alvin:cannot la...its the 21st century but they r not from the 21st century...some laws still hv to stay
Just see which situation fit to call someone. In office always call Mr/Ms/Miss, outside will call koko jie jie aunty uncle la... but everyone call me macam-macam pun ada... LOL
hmm...*ponder*
Waahaha... I will not let my friends' children to call me aunty :P unless I'm already like 30 years old or married. If i'm still single and below 30, I'm JIE JIE! I even asked Monica's daughter to call me JIE JIE :P eheehehe...
i got same problem oso! hahaha identity crisis!
in office and work environment is different lo...
if fren's parents, is always uncle/auntie...
if an uncle kahwin young girl, is still auntie... even though younger than u... :p
parents frens is always uncle/auntie... so, if redsponge kawin, get kids, u become auntie very soon :p
